The UK’s premier sporting event takes a lot of behind the scenes organisation to ensure that it runs smoothly. Our client, an events management group, know this better than most as they are responsible for providing corporate hospitality and retailing facilities at Wimbledon and other major sporting venues.
In the past when catering for these stellar events they have leased EPOS systems to handle the traffic; recently however they decided to invest in the purchase of their own equipment and bought in Commonsense to manage the project for them.
The logistics were complicated. Our client required 50 networked cash registers for merchandise retailing in a variety of locations - including marquees - and the system had to be robust enough to cope with/withstand multiple relocations around different sporting venues. The system also had to be flexible enough to deal with the differing demands of each venue.
Commonsense were on hand during the extensive selection process to ensure that our client sourced the best and most cost efficient equipment to fulfil their criteria. When eventually they settled on TEC terminals and back office software, Commonsense ensured that the system performed up to it’s promised specification.
Prior to the great event itself Commonsense designed and installed a telephony loop allowing the TEC terminals to operate efficiently in the various remote locations whilst networking centrally through a WAN hub.
After a very successful tournament, Commonsense broke down the site and packed away the system - ready for it’s next outing … to the Open Golf Championship
